Kenilworth Chess Club

Welcome to the Kenilworth Chess Club website. We meet almost every Thursday in the Holiday Inn, Kenilworth from 19:30, and are always happy to welcome new members along at these evenings. Please contact us in advance before your first visit.

We field three teams in the Leamington and District Chess League, with our home matches played at the Kenilworth Holiday Inn. See the Fixtures tab for a list of all this season's matches. Home games are played on Mondays at 19:30.

The club was formed in 1975 and has won the Leamington League title on sixteen occasions, including the last 6 years in a row (2020/22/23/24/25/26). We have also won the Open knockout cup competition on twelve occasions, also including the last 6 years in a row (2019/22/23/24/25/26). In 2003 the club was awarded the title of Club of the Year by the British Chess Federation. Entering the Coventry League in 2015, in 2023 the Club won the Division 1 title for the first time, but is not participating in this League in 2026-27.
