Stop Press: Kenilworth C Division 2 Champions and Promoted to Division 1!

Our 2.5 - 1.5 victory against Shirley tonight means that we've done it!!! Full report to follow in due course...

Kenilworth Chess Club

Welcome to the Kenilworth Chess Club website. We meet almost every Thursday in the Holiday Inn, Kenilworth from 19:30, and are always happy to welcome new members along at these evenings. Please contact us in advance before your first visit.

We field four teams in the Leamington and District Chess League, and one in the Coventry and District Chess League, with our home matches played at the Kenilworth Abbey Club. See the Fixtures tab for a list of all this season's matches. Home games are played on Mondays at 19:30 in the Leamington League, and Tuesdays at 19:30 in the Coventry League.

The club was formed in 1975 and has won the Leamington League title on fifteen occasions, including the last 5 years in a row (2020/22/23/24/25). We have also won the Open knockout cup competition on eleven occasions, also including the last 5 years in a row (2019/22/23/24/25). In 2025 the club's C team won Division 2 to ensure that there will be 3 Kenilworth teams in Division 1 in 2025-26, for the first time ever, and also picked up the U-8750 KO Cup. In 2003 the club was awarded the title of Small Club of the Year by the British Chess Federation. Entering the Coventry League in 2015, in 2023 the Club won the Division 1 title for the first time.
