Kenilworth Chess Club

Welcome to the Kenilworth Chess Club website. We meet almost every Thursday in the Holiday Inn, Kenilworth from 19:30, and are always happy to welcome new members along at these evenings. Please contact us in advance before your first visit.

We field five teams in the Leamington and District Chess League, and one in the Coventry and District Chess League, with our home matches played at the Kenilworth Abbey Club. See the Fixtures tab for a list of all this season's matches. Home games are played on Mondays at 19:30 in the Leamington League, and Tuesdays at 19:30 in the Coventry League.

The club was formed in 1975 and has won the Leamington League title on fourteen occasions - most recently in 2020, 2022, 2023 and 2024 (when we finished both first and second). We have also won the Open knockout cup competition on ten occasions, most recently in 2024, when we also won the U8750 and U1600 Cups. In 2003, the club was awarded the title of Club of the Year by the British Chess Federation. Entering the Coventry League in 2015, the club gained it's first trophies in 2018 when winning both the Knock Out and Divisional Cups. In 2023 the Club won the Division 1 title for the first time.
